What workplace food and beverage services look like in a flexible world

Earlier this week, we spoke with Emanuel Steiner, co-founder of Felfel, a Switzerland-based startup that stocks and maintains grab-and-go smart fridges in offices. Having recently debuted in New York City area offices, Steiner shared takeaways about how food at the workplace has changed from the pre-pandemic world. 

When work becomes more flexible, food has to as well. Steiner compares models like Felfel to traditional workplace cafeterias, which had to plan and prep meals on a set timeline. Now, “if you don't know when people are going to show up, you don't know when you're going to cook for them. So it makes more sense to grab something from a fridge.”
